Super Eagles demolish Sao Tome and Principles 10-0

Super Eagles demolished Sao Tome and Principles 10-0 in the African Cup of Nations qualifier today, Monday.

With this, their coach, Jose Peseiro, set a new record following his side’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifier 10-0 win against Sao Tome and Principe.

Four goals were scored by Victor Osimhen, and Moses Simon, Emmanuel Dennis, Ademola Lookman, Etebo and Moffi scored for Peseiro’s men.

However, the win over Sao Tome means Peseiro is the first Super Eagles coach to lead Nigeria to their biggest ever scoreline in history at 10-0.

The Super Eagles’ biggest scoreline before now was a 10-1 win against the Squirrels of Benin Republic in 1959 at the Kwame Nkrumah Cup.

Benin was still known as Dahomey at the time and the Super Eagles were known as the Red Devils then.

Nigeria had been drawn against Benin Republic, Togo, Cameroon and Fernando Po in the preliminary rounds of the Kwame Nkrumah Cup 63 years ago.

Nigeria’s next game is against Guinea-Bissau in September.
