EFCC grills ex-House of Reps Speaker, Etteh
Former House of Representatives Speaker, Mrs Patricia Etteh, is said to be grilled by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over alleged fraud involving in a solar power electrification scam in Akwa Ibom State.
Mrs Etteh is said to be accused of fraudulently handling the N130m solar street light project in Akwa Ibom State.
Although details are still sketchy on the issue but she was said to be grilled by the commission’s Special Unit.
Her removal from office bodered on allegation of spending N628m on the renovation of her official residence and that of her deputy.
She was also accused of purchasing 12 official cars.
These allegation have been disputed by many who say she was removed simply over politicking in the House.
Mrs Etteh, from Osun State but her husband is from Akwa Ibom State,
was Speaker of the House of Representatives for five months, between June and October, 2007.
