World Cancer Day is the one singular initiative under which the entire world can unite together in the fight against the global cancer epidemic. It takes place every year on 4 February. World Cancer Day aims to prevent millions of deaths each year by raising awareness about cancer, and pressing governments and individuals across the world to take action against the disease.
As the world mark 2024 cancer day this week, it is imperative for the people to know what causes cancer and step to be taken in guiding against the killer ailment, as we all aware that cancer has been described as one of the leading killer diseases in the world today, which leads to abnormal growth of a group of body cells that covers more than 250 diseases in the body. It is malignant in nature and next to heart ailment. Cancer can be found in the lungs, breast, uterus, gall bladder, epithelial, blood, prostate, thyroid, liver and tongue to mention but a few.
The major goal of the day is to increase awareness about the disease and to minimise the social stigma connected with it. Cancer is the world’s second largest cause of death. Lung, breast, cervical, head & neck, and colorectal cancer are the most common cancers in Indians. On World Cancer Day, everyone comes together with the hopes of making the world a better and healthier place free of this deadly disease. Numerous events are scheduled for this day, with the goal of educating and raising awareness about cancer, including early detection, treatment, and more.
Cancer is characterized by soft pain, according to the size of the growth, a sore that does not heal, indigestion, difficulty in swallowing a mole, thickening or lump in the breast, unusual bleeding during menstrual period, discharge, lost of weight, change in skin colour and a persistent and nagging cough are some major signs of cancer.
However, am of the opinion that with good and perfect hygiene life style cancer could be reduced to the barest minimum in our society. Unhealthy habits, environmental factor such as open defecation and un-kept littering of wears in the society can as well triggers somebody’s that is constitutionally prone to cancer. Although about 80% of cancer could be attributed to violation of natural laws of course and effect. Tobacco and alcohol is known cancer causing agents, while heavy consumption of the duo can leads to cancer of the tongue, lips, mouth, throat, liver cancer, lungs and stomach.
Also a major contributor to cancer is an exposure to industrial pollutants such as soot and high doses of x-ray, nickel, tar, and asbestos can leads to skin, lungs cancer and leukemia. Viral infection trauma, hormone imbalance and malnutrition which lower the body immune system can also be a major factor contributor to cancer as many biologists believe that the cause of cancer could be as a result of a faulty diet.
Speaking on the prevention and treatment of cancer, Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, said one who is not susceptible to cancer constitution may likely not have the traces of suffering from cancer, he noted that a Comprehensive Radionic Computer Blood Analysis and diagnosis which can detect cancerous tendencies at the incubation stage can go a long way to prevent cancer as well as living a life of moderation can annihilate cancer, total elimination of all kinds of environmental sources of carcinogens, such as smoking and getting rid of carcinogenic chemical in water, air and food are sure ways of prevention.
Dr. Coker said getting rid of various diseases in the state is the main focus of the present administration-led by Prince Dapo Abiodun which cancer is one of them, saying recently that the wife of the Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, with some development partners flags off cancer awareness programme in the state, while the Governor himself took the bull by the horn to get rid of filth and open defecation across the 20 Local government of the state, aimed at guarding against public health diseases in the state.
The Commissioner stated further that prevention and treatment of cancer can include taking vitamins in large doses, natural foods, use of alternative medicines that provides cleaning the colon thus relieving constipation which makes the skin, liver, kidney, lungs and all organs prone to cancer very active.
According to the Commissioner, ‘’recent Swedish studies of intake of vitamin C for the last 30 years have recently found that mixture of vitamin C and copper compound has lethal effects of cancer. She said several studies have also shown that vitamin A exerts is an inhibiting effect on carcinogenics which is one of the most important aids to the body defense system to fight and prevent cancer’’. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommend that a liberal use of green and yellow vegetables, fruits can prevent cancer, as people who eat green and yellow vegetables every day have a decreased risk of developing lungs, stomach and other cancer diseases.
Harvard University study shows that those who reported the highest consumption of carrots, squash, tomatoes, salads or leafy green vegetables, dried fruits, fresh strawberries or melon had a decreased risk of cancer.
Other useful methods are plenty of rest, complete freedom from worries and mental stress, more of fresh air and to cap it all is to go for regular checkups with the use of RADIONIC COMPUTER BLOOD ANALYSIS that will help detect cancer and other terminal disease at the earlier stage.
In conclusion, in our different approach to living with regards our Health we need to ask ourselves some certain question such as What is the quality of life we are living?, Is it the one filled with joy, radiance and happiness or one riddles with inconvenient and pains for our loved ones as a result of sickness? The answer is not far fetch; the truth is that everyone will eventually die of one thing or the other, the quality of our lives before death matters while we are still alive. And in our discipline approach to health issues as regards living a good life, not in terms of asceticism, denials and fasting, but in our ability to listen to our body system and take appropriate actions which will save a lot of health challenges face by us. And as the saying goes thus; “PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE”.
We call on governments around the world to promote health equity, enhance cancer service accessibility, reduce disparities in cancer incidence and mortality, to finally close the care gap.
