Update: NCDC confirms 37 new cases of COVID-19, One death
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has 37 new confirmed coronavirus cases and 1 death in Nigeria from 7th to 8th June 2022.
Till date, 256264 cases have been confirmed, 250117 cases have been discharged and 3,144 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory
The 37 new cases are reported from 3 States- Lagos (29), FCT (6) and Kano (2)
The NCDC stated on its website thst a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 2, continues to coordinate the national response activities.
According to the NCDC, in Week 19 & 20, the number of samples tested decreased to 28,118 from 43,421.
The report in 36 states and FCT showed in Week 19 & 20, the new confirmed cases
increased to 166 (0.6%), from 118 (0.3%).
In Week 19 & 20, the number of discharged cases increased to 66 from 44 in week 17 & 18.
There was no death reported in the last two weeks.
Cumulatively, since the outbreak began in
Week 9, 2020, 255,983 cases and 3,143
deaths have been reported giving a case
fatality rate (CFR) of 1.2%.
In Week 19 & 20, the number of in-bound
international travellers tested was 988 of
which 12 (1.2%) were positive compared to 5 (0.4%) (out of 1,150 tested) in week 17 & 18.
In Week 19 & 20, the number of out-bound international travellers tested was 3,104 of which 18 (0.6%) were positive compared to 15 (0.3%) (out of 4,350 tested) in week 17 &18.
Worldwide, there has been 522,783,196 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 6,276,210 deaths giving a case fatality rate of 1.2%.
