Unmask attackers of Labour Party gov candidate, Lasun Yusuf, CACOL tells Osun Police
The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership (CACOL) has condemned the attack on Yusuf Lasun in Osun, urging the police to find the actors.
The former House of Representatives Deputy Speaker is the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP).
Gunmen opened fire on Lasun’s residence located in the Ilobu area on Monday.
A statement by CACOL Chairman, Debo Adeniran noted that the organization received the news with shock.
He said when the attackers could not enter the building, they fired shots from outside, “aiming at the upper floor of the storey building where bedrooms are”.
“In as much as the true intent of the assailants is not yet known, it will not be wrong to think that the attack may be politically motivated,” he said.
Adeniran said Lasun doesn’t appear as a violent person nor a threat to the wellbeing of any other contender.
CACOL added that politics should be a family game whereby all the contestants will see themselves as one another’s keeper.
The statement advised candidates to compete under a peaceful atmosphere devoid of violent attack at one another.
CACOL said it was amazed at the manner of political desperation that led to the dastardly act.
The body charged the police “to investigate the case and bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to book”.
