Trump hints of certain cabinet position for tech billionaire, Elon Musk
Former President Donald Trump has indicated there is likely a cabinet position for Tesla and SpaceX CEO, Elon Musk, if he wins the 2024 presidential election.
Trump, who disclosed this in an interview on August 19, 2024, said he would “certainly” consider Musk for a role within his administration, though he did not specify which Cabinet position Musk might be offered.
With Musk’s expertise in technology and business, positions like Secretary of Energy, Commerce, or Transportation could be potential fits.
This development comes after a conversation between Trump and Musk on August 13, during a discussion on X Spaces, which was initially delayed due to what Musk described as a “massive DDoS attack.”
The two have had a complicated relationship over the years, with Musk not supporting Trump in the 2020 election and even suggesting in 2022 that the former president should retire.
However, Musk’s stance appears to have shifted following an assassination attempt on Trump in July 2023.
Since then, Musk has been more aligned with Trump’s views, publicly criticizing President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
In return, Trump has expressed support for Musk and even indicated a newfound backing of electric vehicles, a major focus of Musk’s work, during a rally in August.
