Soldiers arrest gunrunner, kidnappers in Plateau

The Nigerian Army, on Monday, said troops of Operation Safe Haven have arrested three suspected gun runners at Shimakar village, Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Major General Benard Onyeuko, Director, Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters, in a statement, on Monday, named the suspects as; Mr Julius Simon, alias Bagga, 37yrs; Mr Wolta Zambai, 45yrs; and Mr Iliya Peter, alias Doubok, 27yrs; adding that the suspects are currently undergoing investigation.

He said the troops also arrested two kidnappers: Alhaji Musa Usman, 27yrs; and Adam Mohammed, 25yrs; at Barkin Ladi, Plateau State.

He said the suspects confessed to have carried out several kidnapping activities in the general area, including the kidnap of one Master Jeremiah Elijah, a 6-year-old, which took place on 21 July 2022.

He said the military high command commended troops of Operation Safe Haven and encourages the general public to avail troops with credible and timely information on criminal activities.
