Vice President Kashim Shettima has told former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to ecpect more political jabs from him during the political campaigns of the 2027 General Election.

Shettima, who was speaking humorously at a symposium in Abuja to commemorate the 60th birthday of Kayode Fayemi, former governor of Ekiti State, on Thursday, said he was an “adjunct provocateur” who laid aside friendship and took “hot shots” at Atiku during the 2023 presidential election.

According to him, he was happy that the former vice president, whom he normally addresses as “Baba,” a colloquial term for father, took the criticism in good faith, knowing that it was all part of politics.

Indeed, Shettima’s joke was trailed by a round of laughter from the audience, while Atiku himself managed a smile.

Shettima, who pleaded with political leaders to unite, irrespective of their political divides, said, “The trajectory of global growth is facing Africa, and Nigeria must make or break that future.

“Nigeria must work for Africa to work. I beg all our leaders here, let’s unite for the common good of our people.”

Atiku has been consistently
critical of Tinubu’s administration, since he lost the presidential election to the incumbent, stressing that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, was fueling political crisisin the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Specifically, he accused the presidency of offering N50 million to opposition parties to dilute their influence.

He said it was time all opposition parties and leaders closed ranks to form a coalition to unseat the Tinubu-led administration in 2027.
