Police storm BEDC Hq in Benin, flout court order
Armed policemen dressed in camouflage and normal police uniform were said to have stormed the headquarters of BEDC Electricity Plc in Benin City, Edo State.
The policemen were said to have claimed they want to install Mr Henry Ajagbawa as the new Managing Director of the company.
The incident was said to have happened around 6.15 pm after close of work on Friday September 16, 2022, when most staff had left the office.
The police reportedly came in eight vehicles with the name of Edo State Government on them.
The police action would appear to be in flagrance disobedience of an order of a Federal High Court, Abuja in suit no FHC/ABJ/CS/1113/2022 in which Mr. Ajagbawa, K. C. Akuma, Adeola Ijose, Charles Onwera and Yomi Adeyemi were restrained from parading themselves as directors of BEDC Electricity Plc. The said orders of court also restrained Fidelity Bank PLC and Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission from taking over the business and premises of BEDC.
The private security men guarding the premises were threatened with forced arrest if they did not allow the entry whilst the armed policemen positioned themselves in combat formation.
A short video of the invasion is trending on social media.
