Police rescue 12 people from human trafficking in Katsina
The Katsina State Police Command has rescued 12 victims of human trafficking in Daura Local Government Area of Katsina State have been rescued.
Gambo Isah, the State Command’s spokesman, explained that details surrounding the rescue of the victims were still sketchy as of Wednesday evening.
He said the police rescued the victims following a very credible intelligence report on Tuesday.
According to him, the victims were about to be ferried to Libya through the Niger Republic when the police team invaded the house where they were being accommodated in the village.
According to the spokesman, details of the victims are: Madinat Adekeje, 39, (female) of Kwara State; Aminat Kazeem, 25 (female) (Oyo State); Orobore Francis, 21, (male, Edo State ); Mike Emuagbon, 22 (‘M’, Edo State); Oladoke Uhunoma, 33 ( female, Edo State); Elizabeth Idemudia, 16 (female, Edo State); Fatima Ibrahim,25 (female, Osun State); Elizabeth Egbayelo, 32 (female, Ondo State).
Others included Olawale Oyindamola, 19 (female, Ondo State) Victoria Chidi, 14 (female, Ondo State); Folashayo Oluwabunmi, 30, (female, Ogun State) and Suliyat Omotayo, 25 (female Ogun State).
He assured that efforts were on to hand over the victims to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP.
“The Command is making efforts to arrest the owner of the house, one Yahaya Dahiru, ‘M’, of Kalgo village, Daura and their driver, one Mas’udu Dusha, ‘M’, of Yankara village, Mai’addua,” he added.
