New player joins Barcelona as defender moves to Chelsea

Barcelona on Wednesday confirmed that a new player, Pablo Torre, has joined the club.

Torre signed a contract with Barcelona that will see him remain at Camp Nou until 2026.

Barcelona disclosed this in a statement via its website.

The statement read in part, “This Wednesday was Pablo Torre’s first day in Blaugrana as he signed his contract with FC Barcelona and got to wear his new shirt in the Camp Nou for the first time.

“He has signed a contract until 30 June 2026, with a buyout clause of 100 million euros.”

Speaking to the club’s media, Torre said, “Iniesta and Xavi were my boyhood heroes” he said. “I promise to give everything to this team.”

Meanwhile, Jake Clarke-Salter has left Chelsea as a free agent and signed his contract as a new QPR player until June 2026, according to Fabrizio Romano.

QPR manager, Michael Beale, wanted the defender at the Championship club and the deal was sealed on Wednesday morning.
