N423bn fraud: I will run for office in 2027, El Rufai insists on being targeted
I will return to politics in 2027, says embattled former Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, insisting that fraud allegations him the Kaduna State House of Assembly was false.
El-Rufai spoke with Freedom Radio, Kaduna, denying allegations by the lawmakers that N423bn was stolen or misappropriated under his watch as the
governor.
He said the intention of his adversaries is to stain his reputatiin against his 2027 ambitiin.
The former governor affirmed that he will purse his political ambition after completing his studies.
According to him, “There is no retirement in politics. By the will of Allah, we will return and continue serving the people.
“I didn’t join politics to steal money or enrich myself. I was satisfied with what I had before becoming governor.”
El Rufai, who was former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, said his administration is accused of financial misappropriation without concrete evidence, adding that his allies were targeted by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He said, “I have left everything to Allah’s judgment. I have prayed and will remain silent on the issue.
“You don’t need to hold a position in government to serve. We are still working with like-minded individuals who genuinely want to serve the people, not those seeking to enrich themselves.”
