Lukaku to return to Inter Milan on loan from Chelsea next season
Chelsea striker, Romelu Lukaku, has agreed to return to Inter Milan on loan from Chelsea next season.
According to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lukaku would earn £6.4million-a-year in wages, lower than the £10.2million plus £2.5million in add-ons he earns with Chelsea, a definite drop of £3.8million.
The Belgium international rejoined Chelsea last summer for a club-record £98million after spearheading Inter Milan’s run to the Serie A title.
But he has struggled to make a great impact at Stamford Bridge, scoring just eight English Premier League goals.
Inter Milan are now looking to reach an agreement with Chelsea before the end of June to take advantage of the Growth Decree rule.
The scheme would let clubs in Italy buy players from abroad with significant tax breaks, as long as they stay in the country for at least 24 months.
Lukaku, 29, joined Inter Milan in the summer of 2019 and led them to win the 2020/21 Scudetto under Antonio Conte, scoring 24 goals in the Italian top-flight.
