Killed Bolanle Raheem for burial Tuesday
Late Mrs Bolanle Raheem, the lawyer and realtor killed by dismissed policeman Drambi Vandi on Christmas day last year will be buried on Tuesday January 17, 2023.
A statement from the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) stated this.
Prior to the burial, NBA has scheduled Monday January 16, as a day of tributes which will be held at the Dining Hall of the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos. The burial will take place at the Olive Tree Parish. RCCG, Banana Island Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.
In the statement signed by the National Assistant Publicity Secretary, Charles Ajiboye, NBA enjoined all lawyers to participate in the burial programme.
The statement reads:
Having received interim reports from the ad-hoc committee and the 1st Vice President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mrs. Linda Bala who was earlier in Lagos, the NBA President, Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, OON, SAN was himself in Lagos between 6th and 7th January, 2023 on a working visit to intensify the efforts of the NBA in ensuring justice in the murder cases of Bolanle Raheem and Gafaru Buraimoh.
The NBA President led a delegation of National Officers, members of the ad-hoc committee and other members of the NBA to visit the families of both Bolanle Raheem and Gafaru Buraimoh on Thursday 5th January, 2023. The NBA President condoled with members of the families and briefed the respective families on the steps being taken by the NBA in respect of the matters.
Mr. Maikyau also met with the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2(Lagos State and Ogun State) AIG Adeleke Adeyinka, the Commissioner of Police of Lagos, Sylvester Alabi, the Attorney General of Lagos State, Moyosore Onigbanjo,SAN, and thereafter met with the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-olu on 6th January, 2022,
The NBA President also directed that a befitting Day of Tributes be organized by the NBA in honour of the memory of our deceased colleague to be anchored by the legend NBA Lagos Branch. The event tagged: Auroral Tributes To Mrs. Bolanle Raheem By the NBA will be held on Monday 16th January,2023 from 1pm – 3pm at the Dinning Hall of the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus, Victoria Island.
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) through the Lagos Branch, humbly request for your tributes to honour our late colleague “Mrs Omobolanle Raheem”, who was slain on December 25th, 2022. Please email your tributes to welfare@nbalagos.ng before 5pm on Friday January 13th 2023.
Meanwhile, the family of Bolanle Raheem earlier postponed the funeral arrangements of our dear colleague and same has now been rescheduled as follows:
Service of Songs- 5pm on Monday, 16th January, 2023.
Burial Service: 10 am on Tuesday, 17th January, 2023.
Both events will hold at Olive Tree Parish. RCCG, Banana Island Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.
All lawyers are encouraged to actively participate in the funeral programs.
Also, recall that the NBA President had earlier constituted an ad-hoc committee in respect of this matter. This Committee has now been expanded by the NBA President with the addition of some members who will aid the success of the committee’s tasks, particularly in view of the peculiarity of Gafaru Buraimoh’s case. The committee is now comprising of the following members:
