Five armed robbery suspects killed in gun exchange with police in Delta

Five suspected armed robbers were killed after a gun duel with Police Officers from “B” Division in Warri, Delta State.

They were said to have died before getting to hospital due to serious gunshot injuries susrained in the exchange of gun fire with the police.

The Police were said to have also recovered from the suspects, two (2) locally made cut-to-size single barrel guns, three (03) rounds of expended cartridges, three rounds of live cartridges and one dagger.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammad Ali disclosed this at a press briefing in Asaba today.

The Police boss said the Police on Aberdeen patrol along lower Erejuwa Street Warri, received a distress call that a suspected gang of armed robbers were terrorizing Igbudu market/old welfare.

According to him,”The teams acting on this information, swiftly moved to the scene, where the hoodlums on sighting the police engaged them in a gun duel, during which five of the hoodlums sustained serious gunshot injuries.”

While noting that the suspects died before getting to the hospital, CP Ali said, “Investigation is ongoing.”
