Manchester United claimed a priceless 1-0 Premier League win against Fulham to relieve a bit of the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag’s shoulders.

Agency reports that in a largely uneventful match at Craven Cottage, it was the away side’s captain who stood tallest in the 91st minute as he chopped inside two Fulham defenders before unleashing a strike into the bottom corner from just outside the penalty area.

United had previously thought that they’d scored an opener in just the 8th minute as Scott McTominay converted at the back post. A lengthy VAR stoppage soon followed which adjudged Harry Maguire to be offside however, despite not touching the ball in the build up.

Both sides then traded chances from distance throughout before Fernandes struck a late winner to move the Red Devils up the standings.
