EPL: You’re lazy buying players only from former club, Man United coach, Erik ten Hag told
Arsenal legend, Paul Merson, has criticised Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag, for buying players only from his former club, Ajax Amsterdam this summer.
Merson said it’s ‘a bit lazy’ for managers to recruit players from their former clubs.
He was making reference to Ten Hag signing Lisandro Martinez for Manchester United.
Ten Hag added the versatile defender, who he worked with at Ajax to the Manchester United squad. He also wants a reunion with Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, another former Ajax colleague.
And Merson is not a fan of managers bringing their old players to their new clubs.
“I’m not a great lover of managers coming in and buying players from their old clubs – it’s a bit lazy.
“Dutch football and English football are like chalk and cheese and it’s going to be difficult for Lisandro Martinez,” Merson told Sportskeeda.
