Doyin Okupe leaves DSS office, off to UK medical trip
Former Director-General of the Peter Obi, Ahmed Datti Presidential Campaign Council, Dr. Doyin Okupe, has an apology from the Department of State Service (DSS), which issued a clarification on his recent rearrest.
A source close to Okupe, who plead anonymity, confirmed that his principal who was reported to have been rearrested by the DSS on his way to London for a medical treatment has since been cleared and let go.
According to the aide, the agency has clarified that Okupe has been released as they said they do not know that he has been cleared by a sister agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) who had earlier took the medical doctor turned politician to court.
But Okupe, who was found guilty and fined for making innocent mistakes in financial transactions, has since paid the option of fine and supposed to be a free man in the eyes of the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Okupe is said to be making alternative arrangement to catch another flight to UK having missed the earlier flight he was to travel with before he was picked by the secret police.
