Debt: Zamfara students abandon schools as govt fail to fund feeding programme
Zamfara State government has suspended the feeding of boarding students in the government schools because of lack of funds.
Indications are that the state government failed to settle the outstanding debt of the state’s feeding agency.
Consequent upon the prevailing development, many students were said to have abandoned school.
A Principal of a Government Day Secondary School said majority of the students were no longer attending schools.
He described the action as a serious setback to the educational development of the State.
“It is unfortunate that the majority of our children are not attending schools again because of the suspension of the feeding programme in schools,” he added.
