APC committee to screen 87 Osun Assembly aspirants

The Chairman, Osun National Committee for State House of Assembly committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said 87 persons bought forms to occupy the 26 seats in the state assembly in the coming general election.

The committee disclosed this on Tuesday as it commenced screening for aspirants vying to occupy 26 seats in the state assembly.

The chairman of the committee, Osagie Ize-Iyamu said 81 of the aspirants bought their forms in Osun State while the other six purchased their forms in Abuja.

Ize-Iyamu, who spoke before the commencement of the screening exercise, said the assignment given to the committee by the national secretariat is to screen the House of Assembly aspirants in the party.

He said the committee has a clear guideline, which according to him aspirants should be qualified to vote and to be voted for.

“There are constitutional requirements and party requirements. Basically, we want to be sure they are Nigerian citizens, local government certificates, age and educational qualifications.”
