PDP Cracks Down on Anti-Party Activities, Warns Members Against Endorsing Tinubu

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a stern warning to its members openly supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, threatening disciplinary action for anti-party conduct.

In a statement on Friday, the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) condemned such endorsements as violations of the PDP constitution. National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba cited Section 59(1) of the party’s constitution, warning offenders to “retrace their steps or face stiffer sanctions.”

The NWC expressed alarm over prominent members publicly backing the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections, noting that such actions breach Section 10(6) of the PDP constitution, which prohibits collaboration with rival parties.

Only recently, high-profile politicians who expressed support for President Bola Tinubu include former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, who on July 28 endorsed Tinubu and APC Governor Biodun Oyebanji at a ruling party event. Similarly, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke—while reaffirming his PDP membership—announced his support for Tinubu’s 2027 bid after a party caucus meeting in Osogbo.

The PDP leadership urged members to remain loyal ahead of its November 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, framing the internal crisis as a threat to the party’s electoral viability.

The statement emphasized that unchecked anti-party activities risk further membership losses and diminished political influence.
