Obasanjo spoke on Saturday at the first year anniversary of the administration of Soludo, in Akwa, the state capital. He spoke immediate after Governor Soludo had given a rundown of the activities of his governmentin the last one year.

The former president, who believed also that Anambra people are also pleased, said Soludo has not disappointed him with his excellent performance in office as Governor.

He started his speech by x-raying the five-point programme of Soludo’s government and gave a scorecard of pass mark on the government.

The former president, who praised Chief Emmanuel Uwuanyanwu, Chairman of the occasion, for supporting him when he was forming his cabinet, said he enjoyed the great services of Soludo as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as Finance Minister.

He said somebody told him putting Soludo and Okonjo-Iweala in charge of Nigeria’s finances had ruined the important sector.

Obasanjo said on infrastructure and agriculture, which he would love to define as agribusiness, Soludo has performed well and has the opportunity of doing more.

However, he believed Anambra State should concentrate on particular areas in agriculture, adding that he is sure that the state can be the main producer of oil palm in Nigeria.

The former president also said the state can also gain advantage as the sole priducer of drugs in Nigeria.
He expressed joy over Soludo’s remarks on his return to his homestead in Abeokuta, Ogun State, after office, which the governor wants to copy because he would have made Anambra State a more developed and liveable place.

Obasanjo said Soludo is on what he would call “appetizer assignment” because he still has a great international or national assignment for him after he has left office.

Also, many leaders of Anambra State, including Chief Uwuanyanwu and the Obi of Onitsha, Chief Nnemeka Achebe, gave the governor a high score card.
