Workers’ Day 2026: Your sacrifices won’t be in vain – APC National Chairman, Prof. Yilwatda, assures Nigerian workers

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has congratulated Nigerian workers on the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, lauding their resilience, patriotism, and steadfast contributions to the nation’s growth and development.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, to mark the occasion, Prof. Yilwatda paid glowing tribute to workers across all sectors, noting that their sacrifices, diligence, and commitment remain the backbone of national progress.

He specifically acknowledged the endurance and understanding workers have shown amid current economic realities, describing their perseverance as proof of the strength and character of the Nigerian people.

The APC National Chairman assured workers that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is deeply committed to policies and programmes prioritising the welfare, dignity, and prosperity of the Nigerian workforce. He stressed that the President is a worker-friendly leader who fully understands the central role of labour in nation-building.

Prof. Yilwatda added that the ongoing economic reforms introduced by the administration—including the removal of fuel subsidy, unification of the foreign exchange system, increased infrastructure investment, expansion of social intervention programmes, and a renewed focus on industrialisation—are critical and inevitable steps toward repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth and long-term prosperity.

He explained that these measures aim to address longstanding structural challenges, stimulate productivity, enhance economic stability, attract local and foreign investment, and create more jobs and wealth.

While acknowledging that the transition may involve short-term difficulties, he assured that the government is rolling out targeted interventions to cushion the effects and ensure the reforms’ gains are broadly shared.

The APC Chairman reiterated that workers’ sacrifices today are not in vain, expressing confidence that the reforms will ultimately lead to a more prosperous, inclusive, and resilient economy benefiting all citizens. He called on Nigerian workers to remain steadfast, hopeful, and united in support of the nation’s development agenda, stressing that collective effort and shared commitment are essential to achieving the Nigeria everyone aspires to.

Prof. Yilwatda wished all Nigerian workers a happy and fulfilling Workers’ Day celebration, praying for continued strength, progress, and prosperity for them and their families.
