Nigerian international player, Wilfred Ndidi, has been offered a new two-year bumper contract by the English Premier League club, Leicester Cit.

The move, disclosed in a recent Leicester Mercury article, is apparently aimed at preventing other clubs of showing interest in the Nigerian midfielder.

However, Leicester refused to disclose the financial terms of the new contract extended to the defensive midfielder, who made 273 appearances for the team in all competitions while contributing 17 goals and 17 assists.

Despite this, an EPL side, Everton FC, indicated interest in signing Ndidi from Leicester City in the summer.

Everton’s interest in Ndidi was made known in a report published by TEAMtalk which revealed that the EPL club wants the player as a replacement for Amadou Onana, who could leave this summer.

Further reports also suggest that Sevilla and Real Sociedad are also interested in the 27-year-old player, whose present club, Leicester City, announced on Friday that they are in talks to renew his contract.

It was also reported earlier that Spanish La Liga side Barcelona joined the race to acquire the services of Ndidi, especially given the Catalan giants’ desire to bolster their midfield alternatives.
