Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the FCT, said he is ready for peace with his estranged successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

However, Wike issued a caveat that he would not allow himself to be “dragged down” during the process.

Wike spoke at his Port Harcourt residence during a visit from Ogbaland traditional rulers celebrating his 56th birthday on Sunday.

The FCT minister, who set his conditions for reconciliation, stated that, “No politician will fold his hands and allow himself to be dragged down. I and my team would accept peace, but we won’t allow ourselves to be marginalised.”

He acknowledged the need for peace and stability in Rivers, a state already troubled by the defection of 27 lawmakers to the APC from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and the demolition of the state House of Assembly.
