The Nigeria Police Force have rescued Folashade Odumosu, the abducted wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Hakeem Odumosu.

The AIG’s wife was abducted last Thursday at the entrance of her residence in Arepo, Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State.

The rescue operation is led by Ogun State Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo, and the kidnappers were neuralised and the ransom used as bait recovered.

Police Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, who gave the cheering news of the success of the rescue operation, did not give details of the exact location and the amount of ransom.

Adejobi, however, confirmed the rescue on Thursday, adding that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended the efforts of the CP and the operatives.

During the kidnap, Mrs Odumosu was dragged from her Lexus SUV by the kidnappers and taken through a swampy area to an unknown location.

In the same vein, three pastors who were abducted at gunpoint in Ejule, Ofu Local Government Area, Kogi State, were also freed two days after their kidnap.

The pastors, led by Evangelist Gabriel Onaji, were taken on Monday night shortly after a crusade.

Their release on Wednesday night was reportedly secured without the payment of the N20 million ransom initially demanded.

A church member, Gabriel Idoko, confirmed the pastors’ safe return to their families, attributing their freedom to fervent prayers led by Evangelist Sunday Oguche, President of God’s Care Missions, Okpo.

The Kogi State Police Command spokesperson, Williams Aya, stated he was unaware of the incident but promised to gather more details.

These incidents highlight ongoing security challenges in parts of Nigeria, particularly the rise in kidnappings for ransom in the Kogi East Senatorial Zone.
