Why Shettima Was Excluded from Tinubu’s 2027 Endorsement, APC Explains

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has clarified that Vice President Kashim Shettima was left out of the recent endorsement for President Bola Tinubu’s second term bid to avoid presuming his position as the 2027 running mate.
Mustapha Salihu, the party’s National Vice Chairman (North East), stated this during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday.
He emphasized that including Shettima in the endorsement would have been premature, as it could imply Tinubu had already settled on his vice-presidential candidate.
The clarification follows a North-East APC stakeholders’ meeting in Gombe on Sunday, where attendees backed Tinubu for re-election but did not extend the endorsement to Shettima. His exclusion has fueled speculation about his political future ahead of the 2027 elections.
