WazirX co-founder challenges Binance’s claims amid ongoing dispute

WazirX co-founder, Nischal Shetty, has pushed back against Binance’s recent statement dismissing claims related to the ₹2,000 crore hack that significantly impacted WazirX users.
In a sworn affidavit dated September 17, 2024, Shetty accused Binance of presenting a one-sided view of the ongoing dispute, arguing that their claims mislead users by omitting critical details.
Indeed, Binance had firmly denied any ownership or operational control of WazirX during or after the July 2024 cyberattack, which resulted in substantial losses for users.
Shetty, however, expressed concern that Binance’s portrayal could undermine the integrity of legal proceedings, noting that the disclosure of sensitive information could be problematic.
While he refrained from addressing each point made by Binance in detail, Shetty emphasized that the situation remains unresolved.
He reiterated that WazirX users are classified as contingent unsecured creditors, meaning they have claims on the platform’s assets but face uncertainty about recovering their funds.
