Update: Two pilots survive NAF jet crash

A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet is said to have crashed near Karabonde in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State on Saturday evening.

Local sources indicated that the two pilots onboard survived the incident after they successfully ejecting from the aircraft.

As at press time, the military was yet to make any official communication about the incident.

But a Niger State-based digital television network, Lapai TV, shared the development on its official Facebook account, accompanied by a one-minute video.

“Two Nigerian Air Force Pilots Reportedly Survive Alpha Jet Crash Close to Karabonde, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.”

The pilots were said to have ejected themselves safely before the jet, averting potential fatalities.

Local sources said large smoke billowed from the crash site as emergency services were deployed to assess the situation and secure the site.
