Update: Death Toll From Lagos Train Accident Now Six, 82 Passengers Moved To Hospital

The Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, LASEMA says it has recovered two bodies said to be staff of the State civil service from the mangled Bus Rapid Transit, BRT Bus crushed by a train in Ikeja area of Lagos.

The accident happened early Thursday morning.

Four among the 84 passengers rescued were reported dead on getting to the hospital.

The State Government staff bus was trying to cross the PWD/Sogunle rail crossing while the train coming into Lagos from Abeokuta trapped the bus on its rail.

It was gathered that two Nigerian Railway Corporation flag officers reportedly tried to stop the driver of the bus from crossing but the driver ignored the directive and drove into the rail.

Emergency responders were on ground to restore sanity and remove the bus carcass.
