At least 550 bags of beans, six bags of soya beans, and a vehicle were destroyed in the tanker gas explosion at Tasiu Gas Plant in Sabon Wuse, Tafa Local Council of Niger State.
Another tanker explosion occurred on Saturday, February 8, at about 11:00 p.m., in Tafa Local Council of Niger State, near Kalasma Filling Station along Kaduna Expressway.
The explosion reportedly happened because of transloading of gas from one tanker to another surface tanker, with both the tanker and the gas plant catching fire.
A statement by the Director General of Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Alhaji Abdullahi Baba Arah, said a car belonging to one Abubakar Yakubu, parked near the plant, was destroyed in the fire.
Similarly, a Ngeil Grains Processing Factory, located behind the gas plant, recorded heavy losses, with 550 bags of beans and six bags of soya beans consumed in the blaze.
However, NSEMA confirmed that no life was lost and the fire had been brought under control.
