Update: 19 suspects arrested in Owo cult clash – Ondo CP
Nineteen suspects have been apprehended in the cult clash in Owo, Ondo State.
The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, Wilfred Afolabi, disclosed this on Tuesday.
The Commissioner of Police confirmed that 19 suspects arrested in connection to Monday’s cult clash in Owo, Owo Local Government Area of the state are in custody.
Afolabi, who disclosed this during an on-the-spot assessment of the crime scene, said the police are still going after other suspects.
The new Commissioner of Police, who was recently deployed to the state, said he was in Owo to monitor the level of compliance with the curfew imposed on the town by the state government.
He told Journalists that while peace has been restored to the affected areas, those arrested will be made to face the full weight of the law.
The Ondo Police Commissioner visited many areas in Owo, including Eyin Ogbe, Ijebu Owo, Palace area, and promised the people that no stone would be left unturned in the investigation of the violent cult attack that left four persons dead.
He also promised to ensure more intelligence gathering, improve the logistics of the police in the state and community-police relations.
