Unidentified device explodes, injures one person in Jigawa

Jigawa State Police Command has confirmed the explosion of an unknown device in Dutse, the state capital, injuring one person.
The Police Public Relations Officer Jigawa Command, DSP Lawan Shiisu, said the explosion occurred on Tuesday in a shop at Hakimi Street in Dutse, the state capital at around 7:40pm.
He said the police are investigating the incident to find out the cause of the explosion and the type of device.
He, however, advised residents to be extra careful while visiting crowded areas and report any suspicious activities around them to the nearest security agency.
The victim identified as Friday Frayo said he saw the device kept by the road in a bag and took it to his shop to find out what it is.
”I took something in black nylon thinking its something I kept, I later saw a device reading numbers like clock I threw it away immediately.
“After I threw it away, the device exploded in seconds and I got injured by the debris of the explosion,” he said.
He explained that the explosion destroyed a signpost close to his shop.
