Nassourdine Imavov has knocked out former UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, in their fight on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The fight, which was Adesanya’s third consecutive defeat, saw him tumbling to the canvas by a huge right hand from Imavov.

Clearly, Imavov proved himself the winner, finishing off Adesanya with some heavy ground and pound midway through the second round.

Indeed, Adesanya had overcome his opponents by knocking out Alex Pereira in April 2023 at the fourth time of asking.

That win saw the Nigerian-New Zealander regain the UFC middleweight title before suffering back-to-back losses to Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis.

With the fight with Imavov in Riyadh at the weekend, Adesanya needed a win to remain at the middleweight top table.

He was defeated by Imavov, who denied him the significant opportunity.

Adesanya protested the stoppage mildly, but the referee knew things would have only got worse if the referee hadn’t stopped the fight.
