UBA unveils aggregator model to strengthen agency banking network, deepen financial inclusion
United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has introduced a new Aggregator Sales Structure for its RedPay POS terminals and Agency Banking network, reinforcing its commitment to expanding financial inclusion and deepening relationships across its partner ecosystem.
The multi-benefit framework, designed to offer a robust value proposition for partners, was officially launched at the inaugural UBA Aggregator Engagement Session held at the Bank’s Head Office in Lagos. Themed “POS-itive Impact: Connecting Agents, Merchants, and Customers,” the event convened key industry aggregators, POS partners, and network managers to align strategies for scaling the UBAMONI Agency Banking platform.
Speaking at the session, Emmanuel Lamptey, Executive Director Designate, Digital Banking, UBA, underscored the importance of strategic alliances in advancing national financial inclusion goals.
“Today marks a significant milestone in our mission to democratise financial access across Nigeria. By strengthening our collaboration with aggregators and partners, we are building an ecosystem that directly connects UBA with communities and ensures that dependable financial services are accessible to all,” he said.
In his keynote address, Shamsideen Fashola, Head of Digital Banking at UBA, highlighted the strategic intent behind the new model.
“Aggregators are central to our vision of creating Africa’s most far-reaching digital collections network. This structured framework offers scalability, transparency, and mutual benefit—empowering partners with the technology and support required to boost agent productivity and serve underserved populations effectively,” Fashola noted.
The platform provides a comprehensive suite of benefits, including instant settlement, reliable transaction processing, real-time dashboard reporting, and services such as dispute resolution, terminal management, analytics, card withdrawals, bill payments, and pay-with-transfer functionality. For aggregators, the structure presents a formalised pathway to onboard and manage agents within UBA’s network, access attractive commissions and incentives, and utilise a dedicated Aggregator Admin Portal for real-time visibility into agent performance and transactions.
Adetunji Iyiola, Head of Agency Banking at UBA, emphasised the customer-centric focus of the initiative.
“This new framework is designed to deliver superior value across the board—enhancing service delivery to customers while equipping our partners with the tools and incentives to succeed. It affirms our commitment to bringing essential banking services to the communities that need them most,” he said.
With the introduction of this aggregator model, UBA continues to solidify its position as a leader in innovative digital finance, bridging the inclusion gap and driving economic empowerment across Africa.
As one of the continent’s largest employers in the financial sector, UBA operates with 25,000 employees globally, serving over 45 million customers across 20 African countries, as well as the United Kingdom, the United States, France, and the United Arab Emirates. The Bank provides a full range of retail, commercial, and institutional banking services while championing financial inclusion and cutting-edge technology.
