Seven Nigerians, others deported from Libya

U.S. adds 18 more Nigerians to deportation list

The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has expanded its enforcement actions, adding 18 Nigerians to a register of criminal aliens slated for removal.

This brings the total number of Nigerians on this particular deportation list to 97.

According to the DHS website, which was updated on Monday, the newly listed individuals were commonly charged with offences such as wire fraud, mail fraud, and identity theft.

A statement on the site characterized the arrests as part of a nationwide crackdown, declaring that immigration authorities are “carrying out mass deportations, starting with the worst of the worst.”

Notable names among those recently added include Obinwanne Okeke, Oluwaseyanu Akinola Afolabi, Benjamin Ifebajo, and Franklin Ibeabuchi.

This move highlights the Trump administration’s ongoing stringent approach to illegal immigration and the deportation of foreign nationals convicted of crimes in the United States.
