Two people rescued as one-storey building collapses in Lagos

Two people were rescued from a one-storey building under construction that collapsed on Sunday at Garawu Street, off Aroloya Central Mosque, Idumota, Lagos Island, in Lagos State.

A statement by Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, LASEMA, which disclosed this, said two adult males were rescued.

According to the statement, “Upon arrival of LASEMA’s Shark Response Team at the incident scene at 1416hrs, it was discovered that a storey building under construction self-collapsed at the aforementioned location.

“Preliminary investigations conducted at the incident scene could not reveal the immediate cause of the incident.

“Further investigations would be conducted to unravel the immediate and remote cause of the incident.

 “No casualties were recorded as a result of the incident.”

The law enforcement agencies embarked on crowd control and maintaining security while search and rescue operation was said to have been concluded.
