Tinubu's US university locks X account amid backlash on his credentials

The official X account, formerly Twitter, of the Chicago State University has been blocked out amid bombardment over the academic records of the Nigeria President, Bola Tinubu.

The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has applied to the institution for release of the academic records of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 2023 election, which was declined by the university.

Atiku, who is in Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, PEPT, along with the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, has condemned the university as he continued to wonder how Tinubu earned a Bachelor degree without a primary and secondary school certificates.

However, Chicago University activated the ‘protect your posts’ feature on X, which allows users to conceal their content from persons who are not followers.

The credentials of the former governor of Lagos State show that he graduated from Chicago University in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, and management.

Atiku had approached a US court for the northern district of Illinois in Chicago, for an order compelling CSU to release the academic records of Tinubu.

The president, through his counsel, had filed a counter-application opposing the request for the release of his academic records.

Responding to Atiku’s application, CSU said it would release Tinubu’s records if a US court grants the order.

Amid the legal disputes, many Nigerians took to social media platforms to accuse the US university of conniving with Tinubu to conceal his academic records.
