The Class of 1999 Governors has met with President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja.

The president, who is also a member of the set of governors, were the first set of elected governors of the present democratic dispensation, also known as the Fourth Republic.

The ex-governors were led to the meeting by former Osun State Governor, Chief Bisi Akande.

The meeting, which started a few minutes ago inside the council chambers of the Presidential Villa, has in attendance former state governors Obong Victor Attah (Akwa Ibom), James Ibori (Delta), Orji Uzor Kalu (Abia), Lucky Igbinedion (Edo), Jolly Nyame (Taraba), Attahiru Bafarawa (Sokoto), Joshua Dariye (Plateau), Bisi Akande (Osun), and Ahmed Markafi (Kaduna), among others.

They make up the governors that started the Fourth Republic after the death of the late Gen Sani Abacha and the subsequent brief takeover by Gen Abdusalami Abubakar that led to the transition to democracy in 1999.

The roll call included: former governors James Ibori (Delta State), Donald Duke (Cross River), Niyi Adebayo (Ekiti), Lucky Igbinedion (Edo), Orji Uzor Kalu (Abia) and Sam Egwu (Ebonyi).

Others are Chimaroke Nnamani (Enugu), Ibrahim Saminu Turaki (Jigawa), Adamu Muazu (Bauchi), Obong Victor Attah (Akwa Ibom), Olusegun Osoba (Ogun), Ahmed Yerima (Zamfara), Jolly Nyame (Taraba), Attahiru Bafarawa (Sokoto) and Joshua Dariye (Plateau).
