Tinubu confirms Adeniyi’s appointment as Comptroller-General of Customs

The appointment of Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi, has been confirmed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

A spokesperson for the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Willie Bassey disclosed this on Friday.

According to Bassey, Adeniyi’s appointment takes effect from 19th October 2023.

The confirmation of Customs new Comptroller-General’s tenure is in accordance with the extant provisions of the Public Service Rules (PSR).

President Tinubu charged the new Comptroller-General to bring his wealth of experience to bear on his new assignment.

Adeniyi has been in an acting capacity after taking over from Hameed Alli in June.

Adeniyi, born in Modakeke, Osun State, completed his secondary school education at Modakeke High School in June 1979.

He bagged a Bachelor of Science in International Relations from Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, in June 1987.

Also, he obtained a Master of Arts in Communication Science from Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) in Lugano, Switzerland, in November 2013.

He joined the Nigeria Customs Service, and rose to become Deputy Comptroller of Customs in 2012, and served as the Customs National Public Relations Officer (Headquarters Abuja), among other duties.
