Tinubu approves tenure renewal for three perm secs, final second term begins 2026

President Bola Tinubu has approved the renewal of tenure for three Permanent Secretaries in the Federal Civil Service, in accordance with extant public service rules.

The affected officials are Ms. Kachallom Shangti Daju (Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare), Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-Agba (Solicitor-General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Justice), and Dr. Mary Ada Ogbe (Ministry of Regional Development).

According to a statement on Friday by Mrs. Eno Olotu, Director of Press and Public Relations in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, the approval takes effect from 27th April 2026. This marks the second and final four-year term for the officials.

The statement confirmed that the renewal adheres to Public Service Rule (PSR) 020909, which allows Permanent Secretaries an initial four-year term, with eligibility for a further four-year term based on satisfactory performance.

Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, congratulated the Permanent Secretaries on their reappointment. She urged them to view the renewed mandate as a call to heightened dedication and excellence, charging them to leverage their vast experience for effective national service delivery.
