Tinubu Approves Licences for Gombe, Bauchi Oil Projects to Boost Production

President Bola Tinubu has approved all necessary regulatory licences for the Kolmani Integrated Development Project, a major oil exploration initiative spanning Bauchi and Gombe states. The move aims to enhance Nigeria’s oil output by activating dormant hydrocarbon resources across the country.
Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), announced the development during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy’s permanent site in Alkaleri LGA.
In a statement by his media aide, Nneamaka Okafor, Lokpobiri emphasized the administration’s focus on harnessing Nigeria’s energy potential to spur industrial growth, generate employment, and increase national revenue.
“President Tinubu is committed to transforming our energy sector into a catalyst for economic development,” Lokpobiri stated.
He praised Bauchi State for supporting federal energy objectives, noting that the new academy would help build local expertise for the oil and gas industry.
The minister also acknowledged the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) for its role in workforce development, expressing hope for collaboration between the academy and the PTDF.
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed thanked the federal government for its backing, reaffirming the state’s dedication to the academy’s success as a hub for skills and innovation.
The Kolmani project, launched in November 2022, marks Nigeria’s first oil exploration venture in the North.
Located in the Kolmani River II field, the initiative is set to resume drilling soon, according to NNPC Group CEO Bayo Ojulari, who also highlighted plans to complete the Ajaokuta-Kano gas pipeline.
The project is expected to revitalize local economies and expand Nigeria’s energy infrastructure.
