Three-Storey Building Collapses in Lagos, Leaves Two Dead, Six Injured
A three-storey building in the Odoriwu estate at the Elf Bus stop area of Lagos collapsed on Wednesday, resulting in two confirmed fatalities and six individuals sustaining serious injuries.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) responded swiftly after receiving distress calls about the incident at approximately 2:25 pm.
According to Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the permanent secretary of LASEMA, emergency response plans were activated, with teams from the Lekki and Cappa Bases deployed to the scene.
Two male victims were recovered from the debris, while the injured were provided initial medical care by the LRU pre-hospital care unit before being transported to Marian General Hospital for further treatment.
LASEMA utilized both light and heavy-duty equipment to conduct search and rescue operations. Oke-Osanyintolu stated that the cause of the collapse has not yet been determined, and further investigations will be carried out.
Multiple agencies collaborated at the scene, including the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the LRU Pre-Hospital Care Unit, and ITEC personnel.
