Nigeria supplies 24-hour electricity to its neighbours, including Niger, Togo and Benin Republic, the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has disclosed.

According to the TCN, this is with the agreement reached with tgose countries.

It also affirmed that electricity supply in those countries is stable despite the fact that the reverse is the case in Nigeria, which witnesses consistent breakdown in supply of electricity.

TCN Chief Executive Officer, Sule Abdulaziz, who revealed this during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics programme, said Nigerians know there’s improvement in power supply now.

According to him, “We suply power to Togo, Benin and Niger. We supply them power consistently. They get power from Nigeria on 24-hour basis and they’re paying.

“Nigerians are getting 24-hour electricity supply. Not everybody. Those people in Band A. You’ll see that they get 20-22 hours.

“Some Nigerians are getting 24 hours. Every distribution company has Band A and that is their priority.”

Indeed, Nigeria generates, transmits and distributes fluntuating megawatts(MW) of electric power that is significantly less than what is needed to meet basic household and industrial needs of the country.
