October 1, Nigerian film

Sweet memories of Kunle Afolayan’s October 1

The Nigerian film, October 1 remains a classic in every sense. Written by Mr Tunde Babalola, the thriller known as “October 1” was given creative touches by Mr Kunle Afolayan, who was both director and producer. Afolayan delivered the film in a professional manner that added more feathers to his cap.

It’s story of murder of innocent ladies in a Yoruba community; it’s story of unravelling the crime by a police inspector deployed from the Northern Nigeria; it’s story of a Yoruba constable who must work closely with his boss with his limited communication skill.

Aderupoko showcases his talents as a versatile actor. He amuses the audience throughout the film. His words, his body language, his movements, all combine and make this film more appealing and entertaining despite its tragic line.

It is interesting how time flies, the film has clocked a decade now. Like play, like play, “October 1” is 10 years old today.

Those who have watched the film continue to recall memorable experiences. It is must watch for those who are yet to see the film.
