Supreme Court Removes Julius Abure as Labour Party Chairman

In a unanimous decision on Friday, the Supreme Court overturned the Court of Appeal’s ruling that had affirmed Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).

A five-member panel held that the appellate court overstepped its jurisdiction by intervening in what it deemed an internal party matter.

The apex court emphasized that disputes over party leadership fall exclusively within the domain of the party’s internal affairs, where judicial intervention is not permitted.

The judgment effectively nullifies Abure’s position, leaving the LP to determine its leadership structure independently.
