Sokoto Gov Visits Bombed Communities, Donates ₦20m to Victims’ Families

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, visited two communities struck by a military airstrike on Wednesday, which claimed at least 10 lives and injured several others.
Defying the difficult terrain, the governor joined residents for the funeral prayers of the victims and expressed sympathy for the affected families, describing the incident as an unfortunate mistake.
He announced a ₦20 million donation to support the victims’ families and pledged that the state would cover medical expenses for the injured.
Accompanied by APC leader Senator Aliyu Wamakko and Labour Minister Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, the governor acknowledged that the military jets were targeting armed criminals but mistakenly bombed civilians.
He called for a thorough investigation to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
The Secretary to the State Government, Muhammad Bello Sifawa, also announced an additional donation of 100 bags of foodstuffs for the victims’ families.
Governor Aliyu prayed for the deceased and urged residents to stay resilient during this challenging time.
