Sheathe Your Swords, Animashaun Appeals To Aggrieved APC Members
The Chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and incumbent Chairman of Epe Local Government Area, Princess Surah Animashaun, has appealed to aggrieved members who have expressed divergent views and opinions to the just concluded primary to sheathe their swords and unite to ensure the party’s victory in the forthcoming local government elections in Lagos State.
Princess Animashaun made an appeal during democracy day celebrations held in Epe, saying her entering into the race for second term was to give youths and women of the council a renewed sense of hope and help create opportunity for collective prosperity of the people of the local government.
Princess Animashaun who spoke with journalists in Epe, said under her watch, youths restiveness and other related crimes in the council will be a thing of the past as she will work assiduously to restore hope in the people and help them to achieve a more meaningful life.
She promised to run a government of inclusiveness that would involve the political, religious and traditional leaders, market women, men, artisans and the people in taking major decisions of the council.
“I know my people, I know the problem of the people and I know how to handle it, I am a grassroots person and I know with the support of the leaders the right things will be done.
“Before any decision is taken, any project is executed, I will call everybody, bring it on board and discuss it with them, then take it back to my executive for execution, so that the pulse of the people will be properly felt and they are all involved.” Princess Animashaun assured.
She vowed to build his government around the area of the welfare of the people, noting that before you deal with any problem you must first have a good understanding of it.
“Epe LG is a cosmopolitan community, with people from all across Nigeria and the major problem is youth restiveness, most of our youths are not informed, they don’t have the opportunity and this is what I plan to give them, because I am one of them and I live among them. So, my plan is to give them the opportunity they don’t have, to expose them.” Princess Animashaun said.
She further promised to key into the empowerment and skills acquisition programme of the present administration in the council, build on it and ensure it is more inclusive and benefits more people.
While talking about the crisis that greeted the party primary to elect flag bearers for the party in the council election, Animashaun denied any knowledge of crisis resulting from the primary, arguing that what happened in some places was normal in politics, as aggrieved people will always want to look for opportunities to vent their grievances.
“I was there, but there was no problem, the primary was held, it is normal for people to be aggrieved, but there was no where a candidate was imposed or shortchanged. There are two ways in our party constitution, it states that it is either direct or indirect primary, what happened on that day was direct primary, that is by ballot vote and all aspirants are there and the delegates voted for their choice of candidates, and it was announced before the people and abide by it,” Princess Animashaun said.
