Scores injured as BRT overturns on Lagos Bridge

Scores of passengers were injured on Friday when a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) with more than 45-passengers tumbled on a  Lagos bridge.

The situation was chaotic as the fully loaded Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus overturned within the dedicated BRT lane.

The incident reportedly occurred shortly after the BRT bus departed from the Iyana Ipaja BRT terminal.

A report from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) stated that the bus collided with an abandoned pedestrian footbridge shortly after crossing the Iyana Ipaja bridge, causing it to tip over onto its side.

Ten imjured passengers were said to have received the needed medical attention.

Indeed, the LASTMA officials saved the day as they responded swiftly to the accident and managed the situation, ensuring the victims were promptly cared for.

The accident caused significant traffic disruption in the area, with ongoing efforts to clear the lane and restore normal traffic flow.

Consequently, motorists and commuters are advised to exercise caution and follow traffic directives as authorities work to resolve the situation.

LASTMA officials stated that the cause of the incident is still under investigation
