Saraki Hails PDP’s Unity After NEC Meeting, Says ‘No Victor, No Vanquished’

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has praised the outcome of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja on Monday, describing it as a step toward unity and progress.
Saraki, who chairs the PDP National Reconciliation Committee, stated that the meeting demonstrated a spirit of compromise, with leaders prioritizing the party’s collective interest over personal ambitions. He emphasized that the resolution of the party’s internal crisis signals PDP’s readiness to serve as a strong opposition and a viable alternative for Nigerians ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement issued after the meeting, Saraki noted that the leaders chose to “forget the past, rebuild trust, and give peace a chance,” ensuring that no faction emerged as a winner or loser. He expressed optimism that the party would build on this progress, starting with the next NEC meeting scheduled for July 23 and leading up to a successful National Convention.
Saraki also dismissed claims that PDP members were working against the party’s growth, stating that the leaders’ willingness to compromise disproved such narratives. He urged members to sustain the newfound unity, stressing that a strong and united PDP is crucial for Nigeria’s democracy.
“Today’s outcome is a victory for the PDP, its members, and Nigeria’s democracy,” Saraki said. “We must now focus on strengthening the party to deliver good governance and win the confidence of Nigerians in 2027.”
The former Kwara State governor thanked party leaders and members for their commitment to peace and called for continued collaboration to ensure the PDP’s resurgence.
